Kenneth W. Smith, 86, of Hermann, MO, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. 

Kenneth was born in St. Aubert, Missouri on October 7, 1929, the son of the late Nicholas E. & Orelda B. (Bonnot) Smith.

He was the husband of Dolores (Dothage) Smith.  They were married on September 1, 1951, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.  Dolores survives at the home.

Kenneth is also survived by two sons, Gary Smith & wife Aurelia of Ballwin, Missouri, and Todd Smith & wife Susie of Hermann, Missouri, by his four grandchildren, Jennifer Collom & husband Steve of Topeka, Kansas, Nicholas Smith of Ballwin, Lindsay Edwards & husband Brian of Thonton, Colorado and Colby Smith & wife Ashley of Hermann, and by two great grandchildren, Jarred & Kristen Collom of Topeka.

Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, the Hermann Lions Club and was a charter member of the Hermann Jaycees. 

Kenneth worked for Clemco in Washington.  Prior to that he worked at Zero Manufacturing in Berger.  After retirement he was the maintenance man for the Hermann Senior Housing. 

Kenneth loved playing music.  He was a Hermann City Band member for over 60 years.  He played both the saxophone and the clarinet.  He played from high school on and also played in the U.S. Army Band.  He was a member of several bands in the Hermann area, including the B.A. Wagner Band, Moon Light Serenaders, John Berkemeyer Jazz Band and Hungry Five.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, with Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating.

Burial will be at Hermann Cemetery, with full military honors. Memorials may be given to St. Paul U.C.C. or Lions Eye Bank.   C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
