Carl "Sonny" Hirschvogel, 72, of Hermann, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Carl was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 29, 1944, a son of the late Carl Griffin & Mary (Holland) Spreckelmeyer.
He was the husband of Judith (McIntyre) Hirschvogel. They were married on December 18, 1968, at Belleville, Illinois. Judy survives at the home.
He is also survived by their three children, a daughter Cheryl Dixon & husband William, of Chamois, Missouri; a son, Steve Hirschvogel of St. Louis, a daughter, Terry Krull & husband Kevin, of Swiss, Missouri; by two sisters, Beverly McManus, of St. Peters, Missouri; and Wanda Limberg & husband Ronnie, of Belle, Missouri; a brother, Edward Griffin, of Porta Vallarta, Mexico; by a granddaughter, Heather Dixon & fiance' Ben Horstmann, a grandson , Will Dixon & wife Shanna, a granddaughter, Brandi Weiser & husband Andy, a grandson, Kevin Krull, Jr. & wife Megan and a grandson, Justin Hirschvogel. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Mike and a sister Linda.
Carl proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter and worked for Granger Construction Company and also Duggan Construction Company, both of St. Louis. He was a member of the Carpenter Union Local 1839 of St. Louis.
In his spare time he enjoyed doing side carpentry work, farming, and riding and working with his horses. He mostly loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Visitation will be Monday, April 11th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where memorial services will follow at 6:00 p.m., with Rev. Roger Kiepe officiating.
