Howard Alvin Rohlfing, 85, of Berger, MO, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at New Haven Care Center.
Howard was born in Berger, Missouri on August 24, 1930, a son of the late Alvin & Daolia L. (Carl) Rohlfing.
He was the husband of Mildred S. (Haerer) Rohlfing. They were united in marriage on November 11, 1956,at Berger, Missouri. Mildred survives at the home.
Howard is also survived by a daughter, Toni Daller & husband Terry, of Hermann, Missouri; a son, Alan Rohlfing & wife Lori, of Liberty, Missouri, a sister-in-law, Margie Warden, of St. Charles, Missouri, by two grandsons, Ben and Sidney Daller and a great grandson Westyn Costello. He is preceded in death by his parents, by a brother Harold Rohlfing, two sisters Ferne Herzog and Lillian Judd, and by a grandson Roger Rohlfing.
He was a member of the V.F.W., the Carpenters Local 1839, and a former member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church, Berger, Missouri.
After high school Howard served his country in the U.S. Navy. He served in Korea, Philippines and Japan. After being discharged he came home and farmed with his brother Harold. Shortly after that he went to work with Schriewer Construction Company. He later went to work in St. Louis as a union carpenter, driving back and forth everyday until his retirement. After retiring from the union, he went to work part time for Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, where he worked for several years. He loved spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at New Haven Cemetery, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Salvation Army, New Haven Care Center or New Haven Area Ambulance District. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
