I am saddened to hear of Mimi's passing. I played my violin with her in the Showboat Theater production of Oklahoma! in the early-mid 90's. I was only 16 years old at the time and very shy - she was one of the people who helped give me courage to play out in front of the audience, which has carried over into my adult life.

My condolences to the entire family, as well as her musical family. She will be sorely missed.

Mimi was a favorite patient of mine. She taught me the importance that a kind word can make such a difference. I admired her tenacity and strength. My heart is with the family.

Dear Connie, Jeff, and families, Mimi lived a life full of service and music. That is a life well-lived. She was fortunate, too, to have you as her dear family. We are so sorry we cannot be with you now. Much love, Denny and Lea Marienfeld

Connie, Jeff & Family,
So very sorry to hear of Mimi's passing. I loved her. She was one of my theatrical mentors..so talented and creative! I learned so much from her. I wish I could be there to give you hugs, but have rehearsals and a show currently, which you know 'the show must go on!' I will miss being able to stop by at the house on a whim to say hello to her. We will see her again in glory....

Our heartfelt sympathy to all your family at the passing of your mother. Not only is her passing a loss for you, but for all of the Hermann community. She did so very much in so many ways to support Hermann.....I cannot imagine how she managed to do all she did, and yet, having known her for many years as a piano student, I well remember her skill, her knowledge, and her drive to accomplish. I did not always appreciate having to come to her home every week (with no summer vacations from piano lessons!) , but she and my parents, especially dad, did know best........my life has been tremendously enriched by my being able to play the piano. It is all because of her teaching and encouragment and yes, pushing me at times, that I have been able to accomplish all I have done in the world of music. I agree with the comments of others.....there will never be another Mimi Schmidt ! I am truly honored to have known and worked with her as I did!

Mimi often lamented "...Ist Immer Etwas..."! Loosely translated, the German words mean "It is always something." Indeed, Mimi courageously weathered the storms of life, heartily enjoyed the triumphs of success, and tirelessly preserved Hermann's German heritage.

Admirable, stalwart, persevering, dedicated, talented, and charismatic are synonymous with the Mimi Schmidt I knew and will always love. In truth, words cannot adequately define or describe the bond Jack Cady and I shared with Mimi. Twenty years of "wonderful" passed; my beloved chapters of Jack Cady and Mimi Schmidt have now closed. The memories will never fade. It was the "Best" of times.

Thomas has so many wonderful memories of performing in Rotunda shows under Mimi's direction. And memories, too, of Mimi's persistence when she was working on any project for Hermann. Mimi's was a life well-lived.

Mimi Schmidt will forever be precious to me for the friendship and love she gave to my family. My parents, Jack and Christine Cady, simply adored her. I have always said she was Hermann royalty to me and I feel very blessed that I had the opportunity to know such an amazing woman. Mimi was a tremendous comfort to my mother and me in the darkest days after Jack's death. She was a true gift to us. Her immense talent and grace will be greatly missed. There will never be another like Mimi Schmidt.
