Marie Esther Adams, 82, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Mercy Hospital , Washington, Missouri.
Mrs. Adams was born in Pattonville, Missouri on March 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Sidney and Esther (Osthoff) Emig.
She was the widow of Samuel Wilson Adams. They were married June 30, 1956 in Pattonville, Missouri.
Marie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Union, Missouri. She started her working career at Deb Shoe Company. After working there she then managed Adams Orchard and later Triple D Laundromat. After retirement she along with her husband Sam, started their own furniture business, Smilin' Sam's.
Marie had a very generous heart. She loved life to the fullest, was a faithful follower of Christ and loved the Lord. Over the past five years she developed a special and precious friendship with Rev. William Zastrow. He would visit her weekly to share scripture, share stories and pray with her. Marie looked forward to these visits and cherished them. They were one of the highlights of her week.
One of Marie's favorite past times was reading, embroidering and making her own clothes. She also enjoyed her pets, especially her cat "Toby", and loved watching birds eat from all of her bird feeders. Flowers were also a special love to her, planting and nurturing them. Most of all, her family was her circle of joy. She loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Marie is survived by two sons, Bruce Adams & wife Sharon of New Haven and Bryan Adams & wife Mary of New Haven, two daughters, Sandra Adams of New Haven and Sheila Adams of Ashland, Missouri, by a sister Shirley Crabdree of New Haven, a sister-in-law Lois Kronmueller & husband Robert of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri, and by six grandchildren Holly, Jennifer & husband Doug, Todd & wife Stacy, Corey, Cody & Cole and by six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, by a brother in infancy, Sidney J. Emig, Jr. and a brother-in-law Hoyt "Crabby" Crabdree.
Visitation will be Friday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28th, with Rev. William Zastrow officiating.
Burial will be at Newport Presbyterian Cemetery, Washington, Missouri.
Memorials may be given to Ebenezer Lutheran Church. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
