I will miss my Uncle Tom so much. He was a remarkable man. I loved and admired him in so many ways, his constant curiosity, intellect, humor, laugh. He knew how to enjoy life and he had more energy than everyone in the room. He had a constant sparkle in him eye, that made me smile.
I will miss his questions (even the one about why I never changed my last name.) I so looked forward to his visits as did my husband Doug. He was so fun to talk to. Tom always wanted to know more about people, history, politics, what we were doing in our current lives - even though we saw each other less and less, and failed to write back after we received his mysterious packages with fun memorability. I learned more about the Van Horns from Tom than anyone.
Tom was a generous and loving brother to my father his whole life. I think Don, Bob and Tom had a very special growing up and I was envious of their stories, their genuine interest in each others lives and constant support. My father, who could never pick up the phone, loved his brother so much, and he will miss Tink so much.

I am looking for this mans relatives. I believe I have an old army helmet of his. It has his name and us army number in it. If someone could contact me I would like to get it to his family. Contact at melon_39702@yahoo.com. I would like someone to verify his us army number so I know it’s going to the right place. Thank you!
