Wray "Bill" Quick, 88, of New Haven, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his home.
Bill was born in New Haven, Missouri on June 2, 1936, the son of the late Greeley & Pauline (Rainey) Quick.
He was the husband of Evelyn (Alberswerth) Quick. They were united in marriage on October 22, 1960, at Senate Grove, Missouri.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy after graduating from New Haven High School. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began his career as a barber. He later became the owner and operator of the IGA Grocery Store in downtown New Haven. The business eventually moved to Highway 100 and transitioned into the New Haven Save-A-Lot, where it still thrives today. Bill was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Haven, the Lions Club, and the New Haven American Legion.
Bill had a passion for trout fishing at Bennett Springs, deer hunting at the “farm”, and cherished every moment with his family. He also loved engaging with customers at the store, always leaving a lasting impression with his friendly and lively conversations. To Bill, no one was ever a stranger.
Bill is survived by his wife, Evelyn Quick, of New Haven, Missouri; two sons Bryan Quick & wife Lori, of New Haven, Missouri; and Brad Quick & wife Georgia, of New Haven, Missouri; three sisters, Carroll Backes, of New Haven, Missouri; Judy Wisdom, of Washington, Missouri; and Connie Kluesner & husband Charles, of Washington, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Quick, of Hermann, Missouri; three grandchildren, Kyle Quick & wife Susan, Corey Novotney & wife Destiny and Destiney Quick, three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Gracie and Micah Novotney and baby Quick on the way, and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leroy Quick, a sister Betty Pehle, three brothers-in-law, Marvin Pehle, Ron Wisdom, and Bud Backes, two nieces, Andrea Schutzenhofer and Paula Backes-Tanner, nephews, Randy Pehle, James Bennight, Tim Steinbeck and Jim Hoemann, a great nephew, Michael Hoemann, and a grandson, Ty Quick.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Ty Quick Athletic Memorial Scholarship or Camp Trinity.
