William W. Bockting, 80, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2021 at University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia, Missouri.
Bill was born in Chamois, Missouri on March 27, 1940, son of the late William C. & Evelyn C. (Layne) Bockting. His childhood was spent hunting, fishing, and being the big brother to eight younger siblings.
Bill married, Betty A. (Witte), on October 29, 1988. During Bill and Betty's 32 years of marriage, they loved and enjoyed everyone in their blended family. Bill’s legacy includes six sons and 13 grandchildren. Bill and Betty enjoyed traveling together with family and friends. To all who knew him, Bill was most famous for his passion for fishing, especially at Mark Twain Lake. Bill made one-of-a-kind fruit salads and sugar cookies, too. He always had a provider’s heart and never stopped looking for ways to take care of his family and loved ones. He leaves this life having made good friends and good memories with so many who loved him. Cheers to Bill with a glass of Vignoles or a Seagram’s V.O. You are so missed already.
Bill was the owner of Bockting Farm Equipment for 35 years where he did business across the Midwest until his retirement. He proudly served in the United States Army as a diesel engine mechanic with the 523rd Engineer Company (Redstone) in Neckarsulm, Germany. He also served as past president of Morrison Lion’s Club, he was a past school board president for Chamois R-1 School, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
