William Emmett Blackwell Sr., age 90, passed away on February 8, 2024 in Keller, Texas.
William was born on January 12, 1934 in Little Berger, MO, the son of the late Wilbur Blackwell and Magdalena (LaBoube) Blackwell.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irene Fae Blackwell, of Keller, Texas; son, William E. Blackwell Jr & wife Kathy, of Washington, Missouri; son Gregory D. Blackwell and wife Karla, of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter-in-law Kelly Blackwell Angell, of Centralia, Missouri; son Douglas E. Blackwell, of Indianapolis, Indiana; son Garret J. Blackwell, of Harlingen; daughter Penny B. Guice and husband Robert Jr, of Keller, Texas, 18 grandchildren, Bill III, Jason & wife Carrie, Tara & husband Steven, Tiffany, Alex & husband Garth, Andi & husband Marty, Chandler & wife Ashley, Tyler & wife Bekah, Dustin, Douglas Jr., Angelena & husband Devin, Victoria, Trent, Mandelyn, Magdalena, Brandon, Parker & wife Niccole and Ivy & husband Zach, 21 great grandchildren, Bella, Abby, Sam, Maya, Sammie, Cole, Cruz, Harper, Carter, Charlotte, Asher, Anastasia, Aurelion, Lux, Sophie, Silas, Cooper, Grayson, Kai, Waylon, Kye and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son Glen W. Blackwell.
William worked in the Strategic Air Command in the Air Force, Kellwood Company in New Haven, he served as a State Representative in the House of Representatives in Missouri and semi-retired at age 50 as an insurance agent for Shelter Insurance.
He was an active member in the St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a passion for hunting and held many volunteer positions throughout his lifetime. Wherever Bill and Irene lived, he served his community well.
He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle and was known as a man of integrity and honesty. He served God and his family in all ways and will be missed greatly.
A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Hermann Food Pantry or St. George Church.
