Willard "Wiff" Kotthoff Obituary

Willard F. "Wiff" Kotthoff, 77, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri.
 
Wiff was born in Hermann, Missouri on May 24, 1943, the son of the late Walter R. & Florence (Mochel) Kotthoff.
 
Wiff was the husband of LaNette (Wagner) Kotthoff.  They were united in marriage on April 25, 1964, in Hermann, Missouri.

Wiff attended school until eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Stolpe, Missouri, he then attended Hermann High School where he was active in baseball and track, he graduated in 1961.  After high school he attended Washington University in St. Louis for two years.

Wiff was employed at Hermann Bank/First Bank and then as an over the road truck driver.  In 1975 he began his long career as owner operator of what is now Hermann Save-A-Lot, where he continued to work with his sons. 

Wiff enjoyed traveling and RVing with his wife, he also enjoyed boating and hunting - particularly his pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota, but his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. 
                                                                                                                                        
Wiff was a member of St. George Church, Hermann.  He was a former member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, where he served on the church council for two terms.  He was previously a member of the Hermann Volunteer Fire Department.
 
Wiff is survived by his wife, LaNette Kotthoff, of the home; by two sons, Kirby Kotthoff & wife Michelle, of Hermann, Missouri; and Chris Kotthoff, & wife Jill of New Haven, Missouri; by a daughter, Julia Kay Ruediger & husband Michael, of Hermann, Missouri; by his grandchildren, Claire & Maggie Kotthoff, of Hermann, Missouri; Brooke Kotthoff, of Springfield, Illinois; Curtis Kotthoff & wife Kelsey, of New Haven, Missouri; Erica Kleinheider & husband Jesse, of Washington, Missouri; Grant Ruediger, of Kansas City, Missouri; and Tesla Ruediger, of Overland Park, Kansas, his mother-in-law, LaVerne Wagner, of Hermann, Missouri; and by his brother, Gene Kotthoff & wife Mary, of St. Charles, Missouri; and nephews Kirk Kotthoff & wife Natalie of St. Paul, Missouri; and Kent Kotthoff & wife Linda of Affton, Missouri.
 
Visitation will be held Friday, December 11th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri, where a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Msgr. Gregory Higley officiating.  Masks will be required to attend services.
 
Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann.  Memorials may be given to St. George Church, Valley Hope Rehabilitation Center in Booneville or St. Paul U.C.C. Choir Fund.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
