Virgil "Punkin" C. Stiers

Virgil "Punkin" C. Stiers, 85, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Stone Bridge Frene Valley, Hermann, Missouri. 

Punkin was born in Rhineland, Missouri on February 17, 1935, the son of the late Herman "Soup" R. Sr. & Hedwig (Boesmann) Stiers.  He was a graduate of Herman High School, class of 1953.

He was married to Irma Schmidt on February 19, 1955 at Hermann United Methodist Church, Hermann.  Irma preceded him in death on December 21, 1964.

Punkin farmed his whole life, raising livestock and crops in Rhineland area.  He also owned and operated his own excavating business for many years.  He enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting, watching and attending Nascar races and he was the king at building bonfires.

Punkin is survived by a daughter, Vickie Roodhouse & husband David, of Rhineland, Missouri; a daughter, Paulette Stewart & husband Chris, of Charlotte, North Carolina; a son, David "Butch" Stiers & wife Lori, of Rhineland, Missouri; a daughter, Lisa Heying & husband Stanley, of Rhineland, Missouri; a son, Calvin Stiers & friend Deb Kopmann, of Hermann, Missouri, a daughter, Bonnie Vandelicht & husband Tracy, of Fulton, Missouri, a son, Chad Stiers & wife Megan, of Hermann, Missouri, a special friend, Marilyn Carver, of Rhineland, Missouri, by 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Irma Stiers, two children, Clyde David Stiers and Christy Stiers Rucker, by his sisters, Floraine Stiers in infancy, Edna Overkamp and Dorris Schwartz, and brothers, Herman "Soup" Stiers, Jr., and Norman "Peanuts" Stiers.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 13th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marcus Cemetery, Rhineland, with Rev. Jared Stewart officiating.
