Vernon Laune Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vernon G. Laune, 79, of New Haven, MO.  A cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend departed his life on Monday, December 2, 2024 in New Haven, MO.  

Born on February 12, 1945 at Washington, MO, Vernon was the son of the late Edwin & Mary (Meyer) Laune.   From an early age, Vernon demonstrated a boundless passion for working outdoors and farming.  

Vernon married Sharon (Lampkin) Laune November 27, 1965 at St. George Catholic Church, Hermann, MO.  A devoted parent and grandparent he instilled in his son Mark daughter-in-law Renee and grandchildren Claire and Matthew the values of hard work and integrity.

Vernon proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in New Haven, Knights of Columbus, New Haven American Legion and a past member of the New Haven Community Youth Fair Board.

Vernon worked at Kellwood Company in New Haven, Missouri as his first job.  Later he worked for D & H Sales in Berger, Mo in construction and heavy equipment operation for over 25 years.  He finished his employment working for the New Haven Rock Quarry before retirement.  Vernon made a lasting impact on his coworkers with his wit, humor and work ethic.  Beyond his career, Vernon enjoyed taking gator rides, working on food plots and deer hunting.  Above all, Vernon loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything.   

Vernon is survived by his wife, Sharon Laune, of New Haven, a son, Mark Laune and wife Renee, of New Haven, two grandchildren Claire Laune and fiancé Hunter Lensing and Matthew Laune, all of New Haven; a brother, John Laune and wife Kathy, of New Haven and a sister, Mary Lou Horstmann, of New Haven, a brother in law Jim Lampkin and wife Carol Lampkin of Rhineland.  He also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws James and Aletha Lampkin, brother-in-law, Stanley Horstmann and nephew Matthew Lampkin.  

Visitation will be held, Thursday, December 5th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, December 6th  at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church, New Haven, with Father Jeff Maassen officiating.  Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Assumption Cemetery or New Haven Youth Fair Tractor Pull.
