Shirley J. Miller, 85, of Portland, MO, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her home.
Shirley was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Algoma Rosewell & Bertha (Shackelford) Yoakum.
She was the beloved wife of Albert Benjamin Miller, Sr. They were united in marriage on September 4, 1951, in Arkansas. They had 70 wonderful years of marriage together.
Shirley was a homemaker and housewife and helped out on the family farm. She also was the Post Master for the Portland Post Office for 20 years.
Shirley was a member of Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, where she was a member of the ladies sodality. She was also a member of the Post Master Union and she was a former Girl Scouts Leader.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Albert Miller, Sr., of the home; a daughter, Terry Warrington & husband Jeff, of New Bloomfield, Missouri; a son, Albert Miller, Jr. & wife Lisa, of Portland, Missouri; a son, Raymond Miller, of Mokane, Missouri; a daughter, Beth Ann Hager & husband Jim, of Mokane, Missouri; a daughter, Lisa Phelps & husband Wes, of California, Missouri; a daughter, Sherry Hug & husband August, of Rhineland, Missouri; a daughter Carrie James & husband Rick, of Jefferson City, Missouri, by 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a sister, Darlene Waybright, of Auxvasse, Missouri, and an aunt, Fay Mayer, of Rhineland, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Pam Miller and a brother Glen Yoakum.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.
