Shirley J. Crabdree, 91, of New Haven, Missouri, departed her earthly life on November 13, 2025 in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Shirley was born April 20, 1934 in Pattonville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Sidney John Emig and Esther Marie Agnus Emig.
On June 5, 1954, she married Hoyt Emory Crabdree. They shared 41 years of marriage together before his passing and they had no children of their own. They attended Calvary Bible College together, and after their first year of college, they could not afford for both to continue their education. Shirley then began working for the college and worked as a cook while Hoyt finished his degree. She continued cooking for the college for 13 years, and Hoyt also worked for the college. They were known as “Crabbie and Mrs. Crabbie.”
Shirley was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Owensville, Missouri for many years. She taught the women’s bible class every Sunday morning. Shirley also provided the Sunday dinner for anyone who wanted to stay and eat. She would begin cooking two to three days in advance! She was known by family and friends as a fantastic cook.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marie E. Adams and brother-in-law, Samuel W. Adams Jr.; a brother, Sidney J Emig Jr, who died in infancy.; her husband, Hoyt E. Crabdree; and niece, Rebeckah Barringer.
She is survived by nephews, Bruce Adams (wife Sharon), Bryan Adams (wife Mary), Timothy Blake (wife Cindy), James Blake (wife Sheryl), Paul Blake (wife Denise); nieces, Sandra Adams, Sheila Adams, Rachel Blake (husband Ross). She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, along with other family and many friends.
Shirley lived her life with a deep love for the Lord, embodying His grace and kindness in all she did. Her unwavering faith and devotion were evident in her every action, and she sought to share God's love with everyone she encountered. Shirley's greatest desire was for all to come to know the Lord and embrace Him as their Lord and Savior.
