Shirley A. Berkemeyer, 79, of Hermann, MO, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 at StoneBridge Hermann. Shirley was born in Bay, Missouri on October 21, 1943, the daughter of the late Arthur and Pauline (Walter) Koch. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical and Reformed church at Bay, Missouri, where she later served as organist for 15 years.
Shirley attended grade school at Bay, Missouri walking the two miles with her brother. She graduated Owensville High School in 1961. After graduation she was employed in Jefferson City as a secretary.
On June 5, 1965, she was married to Melvin E Berkemeyer at Zion-St. Paul U.C.C., Bay, Missouri. After her marriage to Melvin she was employed by Handi-Pac 43 years in the accounting department.
Shirley was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship of St. Paul. As a member she did various volunteer work and she also volunteered for Samaritan Outreach.
Shirley was a very strong woman who was a joy to family and friends no matter what challenges she faced. A dedicated wife and mother to her daughter and grandsons.
Shirley is survived by a daughter, Renee Barton and husband Dustin and her grandson Evan Marrinaccio all of Hermann, Missouri; a brother, Melvin and Shirley Koch and a sister-n-law, Dorothy Berkemeyer, all of Owensville, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her grandsons, Dillon Stiers and Collin Marinaccio.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Cemetery, Bay, Missouri.
