Sherry Englert Obituary

Sherry Amanda Englert, 66, of Rhineland, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.

Sherry was born on December 20, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee, the beloved daughter of the late Harvey Phillips and Patti Jane Shearon.

On April 14, 1984, she was united in marriage to Larry Englert in Hermann, Missouri. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and faith for over 41 years.

A member of St. George Church in Hermann, Sherry dedicated her life to serving others—especially through her passion for teaching. She taught at St. George School for two years and later at Hermann Middle School from 1998-2008 . She also shared her compassion and guidance at the Montgomery County Youth Center from 2009-2016, where she started their first college credit program. She had her master in reading. She taught so many students how to read, but also taught so many students how to LOVE to read! She opened her home and heart to whoever was struggling or needed support. She had many more accomplishments and touched so many lives.

Sherry will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Larry Englert, of Rhineland; her children, Michael Bristow and wife Brandylyn, of Bay; Rebecca Bristow, of Rhineland; and Chad Englert and wife Cassandra, of Rhineland; three nephews that they helped raise, Justin & Daniel Reynolds and Kody Baker; her brothers, Robert “Bob” Phillips and Jennifer, of Americus; David Phillips, of Hermann; and Milo Vanness, of Ripley, Tennessee; brother-in-laws Glen Englert of Devine, Colorado, Leon “Butch” Englert of Rhineland, Harold & Willa Englert of Berger, Norbert & Janice Englert of Hermann, two sister-in-laws Diane & Larry Carney of Holts Summit, and Leola Horn of Urbandale Iowa.

She is also survived by six grandchildren who brought great joy to her life—Seth and Clayton Wilkerson, Hunter and Natalie Englert, and Lane and Laramie Bristow— an aunt, many other cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends and students.

We will never be able to fully express our gratitude to Andrea Anderson for caring for Sherry in her daily life. Because of Andrea’s unwavering love and support, Sherry was able to remain in the comfort of her home until the end.

Sherry was preceded in death her son Dusty, by her parents, her mother and father-in-law Lawrence and Leona Englert, her sister Lynne Crouch, two brother-in-laws George Englert and Clarence "Bob" Horn, sister-in-law Terry Englert, a niece Sara Carney, and two nephews Steven Carney and Wesley Englert.
