Rose Mary (Strathaus) Doerr

Rose Mary Doerr, 86, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Hermann, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at Caring Hearts and Hands of Columbia.

Rose was born in Union, Missouri on July 12, 1937, the daughter of the late Herbert & Gladys (Hicks) Strathaus.

She was the widow of Edwin C. Doerr, Jr.  They were united in marriage on October 19, 1957, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union, MO.  Edwin preceded her in death on February 14, 2000.

Rose and her husband owned and operated Doerr Car & Truck Sales in Hermann for many years.  After moving to Columbia, the past 11 years she assisted her daughter in running Hodges Kiddie Care in Columbia, where she loved the children.

Rose also loved to sew, going fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others.

Rose is survived by a daughter, Elaine Hodges & companion Jon Offermann, of Columbia, Missouri; two sons, Artie Doerr, of Hermann, Missouri; and John Doerr, of Columbia, Missouri; two grandsons, Dustin Hodges & wife Kayla, of Hallsville, Missouri and Tanner Doerr, of Jefferson City, Missouri; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Doerr, of Jefferson City, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Fallon Doerr, Andi Hodges, Shayan Doerr and Eleanor Doerr; and a brother, Elmer Strathaus & wife Kaye, of Union, Missouri.  She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Della Strathaus.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where a memorial service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be at Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, Missouri.  Memorials may be given to Caring Hearts & Hands of Columbia.
