Roland Harold Walkenhorst, 73, of New Haven, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Roland was born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 24, 1952, the son of the late Harold O. & Eileen K. (Brune) Walkenhorst.
He was the husband of Denise (Wise) Walkenhorst. They were united in marriage on May 20, 1989, at Hope Lutheran Church, St. Ann, Missouri. Together they shared almost 37 years of marriage.
Roland was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson. He worked for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for many years, until he started his CNC machining business in New Haven in 1990, AccuCraft.
Roland participated in kart racing at various tracks around the country, such as Road America and Mid-Ohio. He also enjoyed playing tennis, camping with his family and dogs, walking, bicycling, and talking politics. He had an interest in airplanes, and enjoyed piloting flights on his flight simulator.
Roland is survived by his wife, Denise Walkenhorst, of New Haven; a daughter, Kate Walkenhorst & her significant other Taylor Tyre, of Washington; two sisters, Sharon Helling & husband Butch, of Mexico, Missouri; and Carol Seidel, of Jefferson City, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Bill Wise & wife Keely, of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Donna Daugherty, of St. Peters, Missouri; and Leslie Wise, of Maryland Heights, Missouri; and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his father & mother-in-law, Bill & Rosemarie Wise, a brother-in-law, Merv Seidel, a sister-in-law, Julie Wise, and by twin infant brothers.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson, with Rev. James Wilshusen officiating.
Burial will be at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
