Rita Mae Weiser, 90, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home.
Rita was born in Bradford, Indiana on May 1, 1930, the daughter of the late William & Zita (Bir) Gettelfinger.
She was united in marriage to Virgil Leo Weiser on August 24, 1948 at St. Michael's Church, Bradford, Indiana. Virgil preceded her in death on July 15, 2007.
Rita was a member of St. George Church, Hermann, where she was a member of the church choir and the ladies sodality. She was also a member of the Knight of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Rita worked for both International and Florsheim Shoe Companies and also Handi-Pac in Hermann. In her free time she enjoyed doing puzzles, fishing, spending time with her family, especially taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, flower gardening, quilting and going to the casino.
Rita is survived by a daughter, Donna Blankenship and husband David, of Owensville, Missouri; a daughter: Patricia Lawton, of Hermann, Missouri; a daughter, Rose Luttrell and husband Johnny, of Brumley, Missouri; a son, Rev. Virgil (Bud) Weiser and wife Patricia, of Wellsville, Missouri; a daughter, Mary Weiser of Hermann, Missouri; a son, Rev. Tim Weiser and wife Katherine, of Rosebud, Missouri; a son, James Weiser and wife Judy, of Washington, Missouri; a son, Rev. Allen Weiser and wife Carla, of St. Joseph, Michigan; a son, Leo Weiser and wife Kelly of Peru, Indiana; a son, David Weiser and wife Donna of Morrison, Missouri; a daughter, Lisa Beul and husband Dale of Pershing, Missouri; a daughter, Angela Penserum, of Berger, Missouri; a son, Steve Weiser of Stony Hill, Missouri; by a brother, Cletus Gettelfinger and wife Priscilla, of Bradford, Indiana; three sisters, Sister Mary Andre Gettelfinger, of Ferdinand, Indiana; Martha Oakes, of Milltown, Indiana; and Margaret Baylor, of Palmyra, Indiana; by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons-in-law, Bruce Lawton and Lawrence Penserum, two brothers, George & B.J. Gettelfinger and four sisters, Marie Garrison, Loretta Robertson, Ruth Ollis and Mary Katherine Gettelfinger.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31st from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, with Rev. Msgr. Gregory Higley officiating.
Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. George Church, St. George School or St. George Cemetery. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
