Peter Knight Obituary

Peter M. Knight, 58, of Washington, MO, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at his home. 

Peter was born in St. Charles, Missouri on April 24, 1967, the son of the late John Sr. & Mary Ellen (Griffin) Knight.

He was the husband of Mary K. (Menke) Knight.  They were united in marriage on May 18, 1991, at Assumption Church, New Haven, Missouri.  They shared 34 wonderful years of marriage together.

Peter was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington, the Knights of Columbus, and Riverfront Cultural Society in New Haven.

Peter worked as a mail carrier & later as a custodian for the post office in Washington, Missouri.  He previously worked at Integram St. Louis Seating.  

Peter was an avid fisherman & hunter.  He loved being in the outdoors and enjoyed listening to live music. He was a sports fan, especially of the Saint Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Pete was a devoted husband and father.  His commitment to everyone in his family was unwavering.

Peter is survived by his wife, Mary Knight, of Washington, Missouri; a daughter, Caroline Knight, of Washington, Missouri; a son, Luke Knight & wife Lindsey, of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Rita Stebbing & husband Frank, of Washington, Missouri; a brother, Bill Knight & wife Karen, of Shell Knob, Missouri; a brother, Rev. Robert Knight, of Villa Ridge, Missouri; a brother, David Knight & wife Geri, of Union, Missouri; a brother, John Knight Jr. & wife Janice, of Gray Summit, Missouri; a sister, Mary Roy & husband Wayne, of Potosi, Missouri; a brother, Andrew Knight & wife Karen, of Washington, Missouri; a sister, Nancy Struckhoff & husband John, of Washington, Missouri; a brother, Monsignor Jeffery Knight, of Affton, Missouri; a sister, Veda Scharpenburg & husband Mark, of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Brian Knight & wife Joan, of Gray Summit, Missouri; a brother, Kevin Knight & wife Sheri, of Washington, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Francis Menke & wife Jeanne, of New Haven, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Dianne Menke, of Washington, Missouri; and Brenda Voss & husband Bob, of New Haven, Missouri; and many nieces & nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Natalie Knight and mother-in-law, Susie Menke.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

A memorial mass will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church, New Haven.  Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery.
 
Memorial donations may be given to Riverfront Cultural Society in New Haven.
