Oron "Sonny" Borcherding, 92, of New Haven, MO, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at New Haven Care Center.
Sonny was born in New Haven, Missouri on December 14, 1933, the son of the late Arthur & Viola (Monje) Borcherding.
He was united in marriage to Dolly M. (Meyer) Borcherding on November 22, 1975, in Stony Hill, Missouri. Together they shared 46 years of marriage. Dolly preceded him in death on May 31, 2022.
Sonny farmed all of his life, loved his family, and was a member of St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill, Missouri.
Sonny is survived by a daughter, Carla Georgie, of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Pam Bunge, of Stony Hill; a son-in-law, James Bellamy, of New Haven; four grandchildren, Brian Eye, Crystal Pehle & husband Ryhan, Shawn Eye & wife Betty and Bradley Gildehaus & wife Jamie, by eight grandchildren, Cheyanne Eye, Angel Burke & husband Sean, Drew, Landen & Payten Gildehaus, Elijah & Ethan Pehle and Joe-Joe Eye, by two great-great grandchildren, Roman & Luella Burke, three sisters, Beulah Helling, of Mexico, Arlene "Mutzie" Hiatte, of St. Charles; and Ruth Bredemeyer, of Berger; two brothers, Lloyd Borcherding & wife Dorothy, of New Haven, and Howard Borcherding & wife Sandy, of New Haven; two sisters-in-law, Barb Borcherding, of Hermann, and Mary Meyer, of Union; a brother-in-law, William Meyer, of New Haven, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, John Bunge, a daughter, Deborah Bellamy, a son-in-law, Blake Georgie, a grandchild, John Eye, two great-great grandchildren, Stetson & Waylon Burke; three brothers, Jimmy, Clyde & Elwood Borcherding, a sister, Evelyn Borcherding, three sisters-in-law, Rita and Jean Borcherding and Mabel Gist, and four brothers-in-law, Don Bredemeyer, Virgil Helling, Roy Hiatte, and Thomas Gist.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Washington, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Mercy Kids Children's Hospital or St. James Women's Guild.
