Nolene E. (Eberwein) Mertz

Nolene E. Mertz, 95, of Berger, MO, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri. 

Nolene was born in Chesterfield, Missouri on August 27, 1924, a daughter of the late Elmer & Estella (Kummer) Eberwein.

She was the wife of Fred Mertz.  They were united in marriage on October 16, 1948, in Chesterfield, Missouri.  Fred survives her.

Nolene is also survived by two sons, Steven Mertz, of Ludington, Michigan; and Brian Mertz & wife Yadira, of Hermann, Missouri, a daughter, Barbara Mertz-Unger & husband Ray, of Troy, Missouri; a sister, Frances Hellwig, of Hermann, Missouri; three grandchildren, David Mertz, Lauren Westermann, and Sarah DeLong, and by five great grandchildren, Will, Graham, Nolan, James and Marie.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Orland & Glenn Eberwein.

Nolene was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Hermann, Missouri.  She was an office clerk for Missouri Pacific Railroad.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 3rd from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Hermann, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. David Rawlings officiating.

Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorials may be given to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or Celiac Disease Foundation.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
