Nellie Lou (Stiers) Walkenbach

Nellie Lou (Stiers) Walkenbach, 93, of Hermann, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

Nell was born in Rhineland, Missouri on September 8, 1930, a daughter of the later Parker & Louisa (Theissen) Stiers.

Nell was united in marriage to Herbert Walkenbach on August 30, 1947, at St. George Church, Hermann. Nell and her Herb owned & operated Gosen Gift Shop for 33 years.

Nell is survived by 10 children, Steve (Judy) Walkenbach, of Jefferson City, Missouri; Bill (Claudia) Walkenbach, of Hermann, Missouri; Dave Walkenbach, of Columbia, Missouri; Rick (Diane) Walkenbach, of Troy, Illinois; Kathy (Ed) Spearman, of Hermann, Missouri; Jane (Jerry) West, of Pelham, Alabama; LuAnn Richardson, of Springfield, Missouri; Kris (Bart) Toedtmann, of Hermann, Missouri; Vicki Puchta, of Hermann, Missouri and Mike Walkenbach & Janice, of Hermann, Missouri; by 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, a sister, Freida "Moe" Peters, of Hermann, Missouri, and a sister-in-law, Valora Stiers,  of Hermann, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert, her parents, Parker & Lou Stiers, sisters, Ruby Jackish and Lee Stiers, brothers, Harry, Jim, Bill and Bonny Stiers, a son-in-law, Steve Richardson, sisters-in-law, Betty Fern Stiers, Betty Lee Stiers, Shirley Stiers, Loraine Montoya, Julitta Jones, and Lillian Walkenbach and brothers-in-law, Daniel Jackish, Reuben Peters, and Walter, Raymond and Harold Walkenbach.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 6th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church, Hermann, with Rev. Philip Niekamp officiating.

Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. George Church, St. George School, Children's Heart Foundation or Hermann Hospital.
