Myron Patrick "Pat" Rost

Myron Patrick (Pat) Rost, age 69, passed away on May 20, 2022 at Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, Missouri.

Pat was born March 18, 1953 to Myron Charles Rost and Margaret Ann (Thuli) Rost on their Missouri River Bottom Farm near Morrison, MO.  He was the fourth child of nine children.  

Pat was baptized at Assumption Catholic Church on March 22, 1953 by Fr. Ed Donahue with Howard Thuli and Amelda (Mel) Keilholz Rost as his godparents.  He attended grades 1-5 at Assumption Catholic School in Morrison until it closed in 1964.  Pat attended grades 6-12 and graduated from Osage County R-1 School in Chamois, MO in 1971.  He earned an Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics from Linn Technical College in Linn, MO in 1973.  

Pat enjoyed working on the family farm and baling hay for local farmers.  He worked for Haeffner Motors in Hermann, MO while attending college.  Pat worked for Bockting Farm Equipment in Morrison, MO until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1975.  He then operated Pat’s Small Engines until the Flood of ’93.  

He always enjoyed MO Valley 4-H meetings, county fair projects and attending 4-H camps at Lake Ozarks.  He loved working on cars, trucks and tractors, especially Allis Chalmers.  He enjoyed fishing and swimming.

Myron Patrick Rost and Doris Jean Hackmann were married July 27, 1974 at Assumption Church by Fr. Edmund Purcell.  They purchased the home of Pat’s grandmother, Adelaide Rost, located on Main Street, Morrison, MO.

He is survived by his wife Doris Rost, their three children: Christine (Travis) Koenigsfeld, Frankenstein, MO;  Myron Joseph Rost (Jessica Gerloff), Chamois, MO; and Thomas (Amanda) Rost, Hermann, MO, and Grandchildren:  Tyler Patrick, Caleb, and Grant Koenigsfeld, Zeke, Ivy, Lincoln and Cohen Rost; and Chloe and Kael Holloway.  

His is also survived by his Stepmother, Alice Rost, of Morrison, MO;  Brothers, Charles (Lorna) Rost and James (Carol) Rost, of Morrison, MO; Steve (Ann) Rost, of O’Fallon, MO; and Glenn Rost, of Quincy, IL;  Sisters, Annette (Gary) Henley, of Henley, MO and Angela (Gary) Pool, of Hazelwood, MO;  Sister-in-law, Linda Rost, of Jefferson City, MO; Brothers-in-law, Dennis (Gayle) Hackmann, of Morrison, MO; Donald Hackmann, Cape Girardeau, MO; and Douglas (Karen) Hackmann, of Columbia, MO;  Sister-in-law, Debbie Hackman, of Columbia, MO; Step-brother, Hans (Dawn) Schweighauser, of Troy, MO;  Step-sister, Valerie Greene, of Puerto Morelos, Mexico;  Aunts, Mel  and Rose Rost, and by nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by parents, Myron and Margaret Rost, and brothers, Edward and Andrew Rost.

Pat was a member, former caretaker, Camp Hope assistant director and song leader of Assumption Catholic Church, member of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, former member of Modern Woodmen and Morrison Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Assumption Church, Morrison, where funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.   Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery.
