Mildred Oncken Obituary

Mildred C.E. Oncken, 93, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.

Mildred was born in Hermann, Missouri on June 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Albert Walter & Hulda Loehnig (Schuetz) Schuetz.

She was the widow of Harold W. Oncken.  They were united in marriage on April 28, 1946, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, MO.   Harold preceded her in death on January 18, 2014.

Mildred was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Stolpe, Missouri.  She was confirmed at St. Paul E & R Church, Hermann. She was a homemaker, however she did the bookkeeping for her husband and son at Oncken Machine Service in Hermann for over 30 years. 

Mildred is survived by a son, Jim Oncken & wife Bonnie, of Hermann, Missouri; a daughter Jane Mueller & husband Eugene, of Columbia, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Christian Oncken, of St. Louis, Missouri; Nathan Oncken & wife Kristen, of St. Charles, Missouri; Ehren Oncken & wife Lindsay, of Columbia, Missouri; Shannon Mezzanotte & husband Eric, of Columbia, Missouri; and Shaun Bryan & wife Crystalyn, of Columbia, Missouri, by eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Harvey Cramer & wife Dolores, of Washington, Missouri, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Schuetz, of Florida.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Ruth Cramer, two brothers, Harold & Rudolph Schuetz, and a granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Oncken.

Harold & Mildred hosted three exchange students over the years, Mervi Huttunen, from Finland, Hyung Young Kim, from South Korea and Chihiro Motojima, from Japan.

Mildred was lovingly called Oma by her grandchildren.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, listening to gospel music and she stayed very involved in her church.

Private graveside services will be held at St. John's Cemetery, Stolpe, Missouri.  Memorials may be given to St. John's Cemetery.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
