Michael W. Grotewiel

Michael W. Grotewiel, 67, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023 at his home.

Michael was born in Washington, Missouri on July 11, 1956, the son of the late Chester & Dolores (Eldringhoff) Grotewiel.

He was the husband of Brenda (Pohlmann) Grotewiel.  They were married on December 28, 1985, at Starkenburg, Missouri. 

Michael was a member of Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland.  He owned & operated Grotewiel Construction Company since 1985. 

Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda Grotewiel, of Rhineland, Missouri; a daughter, Lauren Salzman & husband Clinton, of Hermann, Missouri; a son, Evan Grotewiel & wife Natalie, of Hermann, Missouri by five grandchildren, Ryder, Sonny and Johanna Salzman and Mae and Otto Grotewiel; two brothers, Steve Grotewiel & wife Joni, of Rhineland, Missouri; and Bryan Grotewiel, of Rhineland, Missouri; a sister, Annette Berkley & companion, Tom Kovacs, of Columbia, Missouri, his mother-in-law, Edna Mae Pohlmann, of Swiss, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Melvin Pohlmann.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 13th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann. 

Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, with Rev. Msgr Gregory Higley & Father Philip Niekamp officiating. 

Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery,  Rhineland.  Memorials may be given to St. George School or Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows, Starkenburg.
