Merle Elizabeth Louise Schutt, nee Beckmann, entered into rest on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at StoneBridge Hermann, attaining the age of 101 years, 5 months, and 6 days.
Merle was born on June 8, 1919 to John Albert and Ida Louise Koch Beckmann at their home near McKittrick, Missouri. Merle was united in marriage to Walter William John Schutt on October 27, 1940 in Union, Missouri. Walter preceded her in death on March 9, 2005. Five children were born to this union - Robert who died in infancy, Hazel (Benny) Struttmann, of Fulton, MO, Joyce (Robert) Schmidt, of Big Spring, MO, James (Nancy) Schutt and Ron Schutt, of Hermann, MO.
Merle is survived by nine grandchildren, Debbie (Russell) Thomas, of St. Louis,MO, Robyn (Jeff) Antonoccio, of Apollo Beach, Fl, Kirby (Shauna) Struttmann, of Pleasant Hill, MO, Angela (Keith)Walter, of Morrison, MO, Darren (Terri) Schmidt, Jennifer (Forrest) Buesking, Tim Schutt, Ronnie (Whitney) Schutt, all of Hermann, and Shalon (Chris) Kegg, of St. Charles.
Merle is survived by 16 great-grandchildren, Justin, Brett, and Drew Thomas, Joseph Antonoccio, Cheyenne Struttmann, Cody (Chelsea)Schmidt) and Tobe Schmidt, Brandi, Kyle, and Kristen Buesking, Malerie and Braden Schutt, Walter and Wesley Kegg, and Riley and Lillian Merle Schutt, by Step-greatgrandchildren, Kaylyn (Nathan) Bush and Jessie Walter, one great, great grandaughter, Dorothy Schmidt and one step-great, great grandson Lachlan Walter.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son Robert, grandson David Flowers, step-grandson John Struttmann, and sisters-in-law Minnie Ruediger and Quinta Elflein and brother-in-law Fritz Schutt.
Merle liked gardening, fishing, classic country music, and pinochle. She and Walter were avid square dancers which they enjoyed with friends at the Modoc Dance Hall in Rhineland, then in later years at the senior center in Montgomery City. She loved spending time with her family and friends and babysat all of her grandchildren during the summers, although not all at the same time due to their age differences. Merle was a kind and gentle lady, adored by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 23rd from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Loutre Island Cemetery, McKittrick, Missouri. Memorials may be given to the cemetery. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
