Leo Paul Pottebaum

Leo  Paul  Pottebaum, 82, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri. 

Leo was born in McKittrick, Missouri on January 30, 1938, a son of the late Lorene (Kiderlen) and Ben  Pottebaum.

He was united in marriage to Audrey Keirle on September 1, 1967 in  St. Louis, MO. 

Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a farm hand most of his life in and around the Rhineland and Mckittrick area, working for several different farmers over the years. 

He was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland and the Knights of Columbus.

Leo loved working the land as a farm hand.  He would regularly hop in his truck and drive around looking at the fields to see if was time to work the ground,  then planting or checking on the crops, seeing how they were growing and then harvesting the fruits of his labor. He was a hard worker and enjoyed being outdoors, he loved to garden and cut firewood. Leo was a big man with a soft heart and he always enjoyed teasing anyone he could, especially his family and friends.

Leo is survived by his wife, Audrey Pottebaum, of Rhineland, by his two daughters, Sue Clevenger, of Hermann, MO and Sara Pottebaum, of Columbia, MO; by two brothers, Joe Pottebaum and wife Madge,  of Higbee, Mo and Jake Pottebaum and wife Wanda, of Washington, Mo.; by a sister-in-law, Virginia Pottebaum of Mexico, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Joyce Sies, of Gillispie, IL; a sister-in-law, Gayla Crites and husband Terry,  of Gillispie, IL; a brother-in-law, Randy Keirle and wife Mary Ellen, of Swansea, IL; and by nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Lorene Pottebaum, and one brother George Pottebaum.
 
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Monsignor Gregory Higley officiating. 

Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery,  Rhineland, Missouri.
