Larry Scheible Obituary

Larry Arthur Scheible passed away on July 3rd, 2022, with his family by his side at Mercy Heart Hospital, Creve Coeur, MO after a difficult battle with heart issues.

Larry was born on March 14th, 1943, to the late Arthur and Edna (Seger) Scheible in Hermann, MO.

He was the husband of Fay (Willimann) Scheible with whom he enjoyed over 60 years of marriage.  They were married on April 28th, 1962, at St. John’s UCC in Berger, MO.  They had three children, Jeffrey, Jerry, and Lisa.

Larry was a lifelong member of Bethany United Church of Christ, near Berger, where he served on the Cemetery Board and several times on the Church Council.  At Bethany Church picnics you could always find him working in the fish frying tent.

Larry was drafted by Selective Service into the US Army and served his country from 1966 to 1968 where he functioned in the motor pool while stationed in Germany.

Larry was a cabinet maker in his early career and he owned and operated Styl-Bilt Cabinet Shop in Hermann.  He took great pride in his work, and his custom cabinets were installed in many homes and businesses in Hermann and surrounding areas.

Farming was his true passion and when the time was right, he began farming full time on the farm that he had grown up on.  He farmed crops as well as cattle and hogs.  He had a tremendous ability to solve problems and fix equipment on his own.  He was capable of accomplishing many things that should have taken more than a single person.

While being a hard worker, he still found time to enjoy some leisure activities.  He and Fay enjoyed traveling and took some memorable trips, both with their children & families and some on their own.  He and Fay always had a fish & ski boat and many trips were made water skiing and fishing on the Gasconade River, Mark Twain Lake, and the Lake of the Ozarks.  Larry was always very active and liked to be outdoors.  He greatly enjoyed fishing (mostly for crappie), hunting (for various game including morel mushrooms) and cutting firewood.  He enjoyed everything that his grandchildren enjoyed and was their biggest fan.  Given an opportunity, he would jump in and participate with them, rather than merely being a bystander.  He rarely missed any of their sporting, band, and academic activities and accomplishments.

Larry is survived by his wife Fay of the home; sons, Jeff (Ellen) Scheible and Jerry (Rhonda) Scheible of Hermann, MO; a daughter, Lisa (Wyatt) Todd of Leasburg, MO; six grandchildren, Colter, Emmett, Mason, and Clara Scheible, and Makayla and Jacob Todd; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Scheible, Fern Wray, Ann Willimann; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Willimann, Kenny Wray, Joe Hauser; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Edna Scheible; his father & mother-in-law, Walter & Dorothy Willimann; two brothers, Lyle & Lowell Scheible; sisters-in-law, Christine Scheible, Mary Lou Willimann & Dorris Willimann, Joyce Hauser; and brothers-in-law, Walter & Eugene Willimann.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 8th from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at Bethany UCC near Berger, where memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM.

Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given to Bethany Evangelical Cemetery, C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
