Kenneth G. "Kenny" Meyer Obituary

Kenneth  G. "Kenny"  Meyer, 87, of New Haven, MO, passed away Friday, April 9th, at New Haven Care Center, New Haven, Missouri.

Kenny was born in Berger, Missouri on March 10, 1934, a son of the late Leona  (Speckhals) and John  Fred Meyer. On June 27, 1953 he was united in marriage to Joan Kluesner at Assumption Church, New Haven, MO.

During his working years he worked mostly at the Kellwood Corporation and later American Recreation Co. in New Haven. In his early working years he worked for Paul Blumer at the funeral home in Berger. He also worked at the Langenberg Hat Factory in New Haven. 

He was a member of Assumption Church in New Haven, Missouri,  New Haven American Legion Booster Club, Former City Alderman and Former Assumption Church Board Member. Kenny was very active and dedicated member of the New Haven Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed camping and hunting, especially the social time he got to spend with his fellow hunters. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and making crafts that he could give to his family and friends. He was especially proud to be a New Haven Volunteer Fireman.

Kenny is survived by his wife Joan, by four daughters, Lucy Zablow, Columbia, Mo; Carol Pruessner and husband Jim, New Haven; Myra Hanks and husband Larry, New Haven, Paula Colter, of New Haven, MO; by two sons, Eric Meyer and wife Christine, New Haven; and  Mark Meyer and wife Sharon, of Hermann. He is also survived by a sister Geneva Wright, Union, sister-in-law LaVerne Schweerkotting, Hermann and a brother-in-law Ray Piontek, Florissant, by 13 Grandchildren, Jamelle Moloney, Melissa Malcolm, Sarah Niedenthal, Jenny Lowe, Jessica Hasty, Jim-Bob Pruessner, Patrick Meyer, Crystal Payne, Julain Pock, Wesley Hanks, Ryan Colter, Robyn Holdmeyer and Rustin Colter and by 28 great-grand children with 2 more on the way.
 
He was preceded in death by his Father John Fred Meyer and his mother Leona Speckhals Meyer and his step-mother Olga Meyer, by 3 brothers, Floyd Meyer, Melvin "Butch" Meyer and John Meyer Jr., by two son-in-laws Jim Zablow, and Rich Colter, by a brother-in-law Leonard Kluesner and his wife Jean, and 3 sister-in-laws, Delores and Ginny Piontek, and Ruth A. Meyer.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 12th, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, MO.

A Rosary service will be held Tuesday April 13th at 9:00 a.m. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Mo.

Funeral Services will be held April 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church, New Haven followed by burial at the Assumption Cemetery. 

Memorial may be given to New Haven Volunteer Fire Department, New Haven Care Center, or Assumption Church, C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.

The family requests that no food or refreshments be taken to the funeral home and that masks are worn when social distancing cannot be achieved.
