Karen K. Zydiak left this world for reasons known only to her and her creator on June 29, 2023.
Karen was born on July 21, 1955 to George and Fern Villmer and raised in Dog Town/St. Louis. MO. She was one of six children, Judy, Keith, Kathryn, Mark (dec) and Tom (dec) and the quintessential child of the sixties striking out on her own at 17.
She worked at Deaconess Hospital as the Critical Care Unit Secretary. She kept that unit running smoothly for over 10 years and there she met her husband Greg, who fell in love with her from the first day they met. After waiting four years for him to complete his studies, they were wed on April 9, 1988.
Together they raised four lovely children, Jason, Joseph, Kate and Daniel, in Webster Groves, MO. and had two grandchildren, Vittoria and Lisa. After their children left the nest Karen and Greg downsized to Hermann MO along the Gasconade River in God’s country.
She had a quirky, artistic flare and found everything around her to be a thing of beauty, worth saving and bringing home. Hers was the house that all her children’s friends came to. There they could relax and just be kids. She hated housework but loved to drive fast, garden and basically play in the mud.
A Private memorial celebration of Karen’s life will be planned for in the near future. In lieu of flowers and donations please give your family and friends an extra long hug and tell them how much they mean to you and how much you love them.
