Joseph Victor Slater, 68, of Thompson, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 10t, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
Joseph was born in Pratt, Kansas on August 27, 1955, the son of the late Monroe & Evelyn (Sachs) Slater.
He was the husband of Sharon (Rohlfing) Slater. They were married on August 20, 1975, at St. Paul U.C.C., Hermann, MO.
Joseph served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for the University of Missouri as the manager for the Ag Lime Control Law. He was the National Secretary for the Association of American Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO).
Joseph's greatest joy was spending time with his two granddaughters. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time in the vineyard and being outdoors. He was a jack of all trades, he could do anything he set his mind to. His nick name was Mr. Shopper, because he was always checking where he could get the best deals.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Sharon Slater, of Thompson, Missouri; a daughter, Heather McBride & husband John, of Mexico, Missouri; a son, Jonathan Slater, of Mexico, Missouri; his twin granddaughters, Eva and Autumn McBride; two brothers, David Slater & wife Vicki, of Swiss, Missouri; and Carl Slater & wife Devona, of Leawood, Kansas; a sister, Karen Bridgeman & husband John, of Washington, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Jane McKinney & husband Ron, of Liberty, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Charles Rohlfing & wife Amy Louden, of Westfield, Indiana; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parent and a brother William Slater & his wife Charlotte.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Swiss Evangelical Reformed Cemetery, Swiss, Missouri.
Memorials may be given to Lymphatic Cancer Research.
