John Joseph Laune

John Joseph Laune, 75, of New Haven, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri. 
 
John was born in Washington, Missouri on March 24, 1950, the son of the late Edwin & Mary (Meyer) Laune.
 
He was the husband of Kathy (LaBoube) Laune.  They were united in marriage on November 3, 1973, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Berger, MO.  Together they shared 51 years of marriage.
 
John was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, New Haven, and the Knights of Columbus. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Local 1839. 
 
In his free time he enjoyed taking a daily drive, playing his guitar, hunting and fishing.  He loved spending time with his grandsons and watching their activities.  John enjoyed listening to his music loud and dancing with his wife.  He loved to party and there many Sunday afternoons under the shade tree with friends.  Most of the time you would find John wearing jeans and cowboy boots.
 
John is survived by his wife, Kathy Laune, of New Haven; a son, Jason Laune & wife Nicole, of New Haven, Missouri; a daughter, Amanda Thimm & husband Brad, of Beatrice, Nebraska; a sister, Mary Lou Horstmann, of New Haven; and five grandchildren, Brendan and Blake Thimm and Dylan, Parker and Leo Laune.  
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Melissa Laune, a brother, Vernon Laune, and a brother-in-law, Stanley Horstmann.
 
A memorial mass will be held Friday, May 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church, New Haven.  Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery.
 
Memorials may be given to Assumption Cemetery or Knights of Columbus.
