Joey "Joe" Thomas Hart, 83, of Hermann, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri.
Joe was born at home in Big Spring, Missouri on May 8, 1942, the son of the late Clyde Sr. & Ethel E. (Israel) Hart.
He was the husband of Janet (Lenger) Hart. They were united in marriage on August 20, 1960, in Hermann, Missouri. Together they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.
Joe was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Hermann, and the Daggett Lodge in McKittrick for many years. He worked at Callaway Nuclear Plant from 1978 to 1983 as a pipe fitter. He then went to work for several pipe fitting companies in Central & East Central Missouri for many years.
Joe was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family at the farm while hunting, cutting wood or just soaking up the fresh outdoors. In his off time, he spent many weekends boating and fishing on the river.
Joe and Janet were great supporters of their grandkid’s sports and activities over the many years and rarely missed an event. In addition to their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joe and Janet have always had their 4-legged companions. Their many cherished Labrador Retrievers over the years were treated like family and rode along on their evening cruises to watch the deer coming out to graze in the nearby local fields. They were always fed the best hot dogs Loutre Market had to offer for their treats and often got the best seats in the house. Both their family and pets brought Joe great joy.
Joe is survived by his wife, Janet Hart, of Hermann; two sons, Brad Hart & fiancé Jennifer Gourley, and Gary Hart & wife Karen, both of Hermann, Missouri; a sister, Carol Eastman, of Big Spring, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Rich Lenger & wife Bev, of O'Fallon, Missouri; and Steve Lenger & wife Susan, of Hermann, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Khera Kiso & husband Jason, of Tebbetts, Missouri; Braden Hart, of Jefferson City, Missouri; Andrea Taylor & husband Mike, of Wildwood, Missouri; Blake Hart & wife Nicole, of Big Spring, Missouri; Collin Hart, of New Florence, Missouri; Josh Bickmeyer & wife Jessica, of Montgomery City, Missouri; Austin Bickmeyer & fiancé Danielle Martin, of O'Fallon, Missouri and Shelby Bickmeyer, of Hermann, Missouri, and 10 great grandchildren, Cash, Olivia, Cecilia, Hendrix, Clyde, Dallas, Jaxson, Kolton, Rylinn and Rhett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Gregory Hart, two brothers, Clyde Jr. & Daniel Hart and a sister, Anita Landrum.
