Jerry Lynn Smith, 88, of Hermann, MO, passed away December 23rd, 2025 at StoneBridge Senior Living, Hermann, MO.
Jerry was born on July 2nd, 1937 in Parkin, Arkansas, the fifth and last son of Charlotte and Abie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and his four brothers Bobbie, Jimmy, Giles and Billy.
Jerry was blessed with a great singing voice, he sang the song "Oh Danny Boy" for his school and many other occasions. Jerry sang in the church choir at the First Baptist Church in Granite City, Illinois and he also sang many solo's.
Jerry and his family moved to Illinois when he was about 10 years old. His family had a confectionary and his father worked in a steel mill. Jerry would help in the family store after school.
Jerry went into the U.S. Army in 1960 and served as a medic until 1962. He then went to work at Laclede Steel Co. and worked there for 33 years. During the time Jerry was working at Laclede Steel, he and his wife Ruth bought a nursing home in St. Louis and Ruth worked there in 1998. In 1989 Jerry and Ruth purchased a farm south of Hermann.
He leaves three daughters and several grandchildren as well as his wife Ruth. He will be sorely missed and was loved by all.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 31st, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann where funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
