Janet "Rosie" Rosalee (Huenefeld) Grotewiel, 88, formerly of Big Spring, passed away May 28, 2026. Rosie was born January 11, 1938, to Lester M. and Clara E. Huenefeld.
She was united in marriage to Aloysius "Al" Grotewiel on May 29, 1957. They were married 67 years. Al preceded her in death on September 12, 2024.
Rosie enjoyed flowers, reading, and animals, especially dogs and cats. She loved to travel, swing on the porch, and talk with loved ones. She also took joy in cooking for family and friends.
Rosie was a member of First Baptist Church of Hermann and most recently attended Gasconade Baptist Church.
Besides her husband Al, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Selma Stone and Genevieve Clevenger, and one brother Melvin Huenefeld.
Rosie is survived by one son, Michael Grotewiel of Osage Beach; two daughters, Mary Grotewiel of Columbia and Rebecca (Terry) Liverar of Farmington; one grandson Dylan; two granddaughters, Katie and Laura; one sister Helen Harris; nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
