Gloria Jean (Guese) Swigert

Gloria Jean Swigert, 81, of Foley, Alabama, formerly of New Haven, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026 at The Waterford at Creekside, Pensacola, Florida.

Gloria was born in Dissen, Missouri on March 27, 1944, the daughter of the late Gilbert & Clara (Smith) Guese.  She was a New Haven High School graduate of 1962.

She was the widow of Gordon E. Swigert.  They were united in marriage on September 9, 1967, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven, MO.  Together they shared 39 years of marriage & adventure.  Gordon preceded her in death on October 16, 2006.

Gloria was a former member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven, Missouri, and the Eastern Stars of Indiana.  She built a remarkable 36-year career with US Air, where her dedication and warmth left a lasting impression with colleagues & travelers alike.  Also bringing her charm and wit to roles in the hospitality and retail industries, always finding joy in connecting with people.

She had a zest for life, enjoying living near the beach and the simple pleasure of a glass (or two) of wine with friends and family.

Gloria is survived by a stepdaughter, Donna Gaubatz & husband Tony, of Elberta, Alabama; a stepson, Mark Swigert & wife Joyce, of Robertsdale, Alabama; a sister, Laverne Sullentrup, of Marthasville, Missouri, and three nieces. 
 
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Ralph Guese, and a brother-in-law, Andrew Sullentrup.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 27th at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery, Senate Grove, Missouri. 

Memorials may be given to St. Peter's U.C.C. or Immanuel United Methodist Cemetery.
