Gerald "Ferd" F. Metzler, 84, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.
Ferd was born in Rhineland, Missouri on February 24, 1938, the son of the late Orval E. & Helen C. (Scholten) Metzler.
He was the husband of Lavita L. (Nickelson) Metzler. They were united in marriage on September 15, 1962, at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri.
Ferd worked at Mack Electric and Aschinger Electric in St. Louis most of his working career. He was a member of Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, IBEW Local #1, St. Louis and American Legion in Rhineland, Missouri.
Ferd is survived by his wife, Lavita Metzler, of Hermann, Missouri, daughter, Cheryl Meers & husband Matt, of St. Charles, Missouri; a son, Brian Metzler, of Wright City, Missouri; a daughter, Michele Wares, of St. Andrews, Scotland; six grandchildren, Samantha Ross & husband Austin, of Festus, Missouri; Kasey Ross & husband Joe, of St. Charles, Missouri; Jenna Meers, of St. Louis, Missouri and Colin & Sarah Wares, both of St. Andrews, Scotland; a sister, Melba Bokermann, of Des Peres, Missouri; a sister, Fae Winkelmann, of Hermann, Missouri; a brother, Valerian "Manny" Metzler & wife Vera, of Fenton, Missouri; and a sister, Carolyn Metzler, of Hermann, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wendell "Metz" Metzler.
Ferd enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping other people, spending time at the lake with his kids and grandchildren and maintaining his property. He loved to build model planes and cracking pecans, listening to the St. Louis Cardinals and barbecuing.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
Funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhineland, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Church of the Risen Savior or St. Joseph's Cemetery. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
