Eugene "Gene" Devlin

Eugene (Gene) Devlin, 68 years old, of New Florence, MO, died January 15, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

Gene was born on December 15, 1953 at High Hill, Missouri, a son of the late Edward and Lucille (Overkamp) Devlin.  

Gene married Elizabeth "Liz" (Littrell) Devlin on  February 17, 1973 in Montgomery City, MO.

Gene is survived Elizabeth, by his two sons, Jody Devlin and wife Stormy, and Justin Devlin and special friend Ginger Moore,  all of New Florence, by two beautiful granddaughters, Abby and Erica Devlin, of New Florence, MO;  by his brother, Sidney Devlin and wife Brenda, of New Florence, MO, four sisters-in-law, Linda Devlin, of House Springs, MO, Ruth Devlin, of New Florence, MO, Connie Bower and husband Kelly, of St. Louis, and Donna Devlin, of Montgomery City, MO.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, by six brothers, Kenneth, Larry, Dennis, Ronnie, Russell, and Glen Devlin and two sisters-in-law, Patricia Devlin, and Kathy Devlin.

Gene drove a dump truck for Clark Johnson and he also worked for Maczuk Chrysler for 15 years.  He also opened up his own used car business that he had for years.  In 2008 Gene started a job with Blue Stream Trucking, delivery mail from St. Louis to all of the local Post Offices until he had an accident and had to retire early. Gene was also a former mayor and alderman for the city of New Florence.  

Gene loved animals, no matter what kind, horses, goats, chickens and he raised peacocks until his health declined.  Gene also had a passion for old cars and old tractors.  But his main love was his family.  His granddaughters were his life.  Grandpa Gene made sure they got everything they needed or wanted.

Gene will be dearly missed by his family and many friends, but most of all by his two little dogs, Sammy and Oreo. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 18th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Florence, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
