Edward Louis Priess, 87, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital, St. Charles, Missouri.
Ed was born in Hermann, Missouri on November 4, 1936, the son of the late Gilbert & Louise (Heinlein) Priess.
Ed graduated from Hermann High School in 1954. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1955 to 1958. After being discharged from the Army he went to work for McDonnell Douglas & later Boeing for 35 years.
On March 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Shirley Begemann at the Methodist Church in Chamois, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Carla, Cary & Julie. They shared 45 years of marriage together until Shirley preceded him in death on June 22, 2004.
Ed was remarried on April 5, 2008 to Vera (Rohn) Collins in St. Charles, Missouri. Vera survives in St. Charles, Missouri.
Ed is also survived by two daughters, Carla McCuan, of St. Charles, Missouri; and Julie Lewis & husband Jim, of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Megan Ebl and Zachary & Cale Ohlms, all of St. Charles; Missouri; three great grandchildren, Parker, Dylan and Aubrey; two step daughters, Sherri Collins, of Roanoke, Virginia; and Laura Bollinger, of St. Charles, Missouri; two brothers, Benjamin Priess & wife Carol, of St. Charles, Missouri; Clarence Priess & wife Carol, of Hermann, Missouri; and a half sister, Ruby Carter, of Clinton, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Shirley Priess, an infant son, Cary Priess, two half brothers, Forrest Koeller & Armin Koeller Jr. and two half sisters, Dorothy Fredrick and Lavern Frye.
Ed was active in sports in school and as an adult. He was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He enjoyed deer hunting, yard & garden work and he did cattle farming for 28 years. He was known for his big heart and sense of humor. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association or Mac's Mission (Non-profit dog rescue).
