Delores Huxol Obituary

Delores Mae Huxol, 91, of Hermann, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.

Delores was born in Hermann, Missouri on January 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Charles & Elda (Bopp) Horstmann.

She was united in marriage to Earl L. Huxol on August 20, 1950, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, MO. For over 70 years, they lived in the original brick home that they built together on the hill.  Three boys were born of the marriage, Bruce, David & Charles.

During her working years, she was a payroll clerk at the International Shoe Factory, as well as a bookkeeper for several local businesses.  She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.

Delores lived her life with curiosity and positivity that brought smiles to the faces of her family and loved ones.  Most important to her, was enjoying time with her grandchildren hosting tea parties, playing games and doing crafts of all kinds.  Delores and Earl loved traveling in their RV and were frequently accompanied by many family members and close friends.  Many fond memories were made with the grandchildren on these trips.  In quieter moments, Delores could often be found engrossed in her favorite pastimes: word searches, playing solitaire and acting as unofficial historian of the Hermann High School class of 1949.

Delores is survived by her three sons, Bruce Huxol & wife Diane, of Blue Springs, Missouri; David Huxol & wife Kathy, of Washington, Missouri; and Charles Huxol & wife Sherry, of Washington, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan (Tom), Bradley Huxol (Rebecca), Lauren Norris (Adam), Jeremy Huxol, Katie Huxol, Jacob Huxol ( Ithaca), Kacie Huxol, and Jessica Huxol; eight great grandchildren, Alexandra Marks (Tyler), Chloe Huxol, Lily, Cooper and Lucy Norris, Stella and Baron Huxol, Sam Huxol, three great-great grandchildren, Nash Baze, and Charlie and Emma Marks and many nieces & nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents Charles & Elda Horstmann, her husband Earl Huxol, a brother Burnell Horstmann and a sister Charleen (Sis) Haid.

The family would like to express its eternal gratitude to the doctors, nurses and administrative staff at Hermann Area District Hospital and The Falls at StoneBridge.

A beloved mother and cherished grandmother, Delores left an indelible mark on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.  Delores will be dearly missed but never forgotten.  May she rest in peace, her spirit will forever be alive in the hearts of those she touched.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Andy Wilson officiating.
