Clarence Edward "Ed" Meyer, 92, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.
Clarence was born in Washington, Missouri on February 22, 1931, the son of the late Clarence C. & Hilda (Horstmann) Meyer.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy "D.J." Bouldien on June 29, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee. They shared over 60 years of marriage until DJ. preceded him in death on July 20, 2018.
Clarence proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.
He was the president and owner of The C.E. Meyer Corporation of Memphis. For 20 years his company was trusted by families in Memphis to care for their fine carpets, upholstery and Oriental rugs.
Clarence is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Meyer Smith & husband John Michael, of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Meyer, of Memphis, Tennessee; a grandson, Benjamin Smith & wife Maj. Sarah, of West Point, New York; a granddaughter, Lindsay Smith Brennan Esq. & husband Patrick, of Charleston, West Virginia; a brother, Eldon Meyer & wife Maggie, of Hermann, Missouri; a sister, Mary Struttman, of Hermann, Missouri; a sister-in-law, RuthAnn Meyer, of St. Peters, Missouri; and many nieces & nephews and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Hilda, his wife, D.J. Meyer, a son, Stephen Meyer, a grandson, Matthew Christopher Smith, a brother, Ken Meyer, and a brother-in-law, Frank Struttman.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m, with Rev. Andy Wilson officiating.
Burial will be at Hermann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to Parkinson's Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
