Catherine A. Elsenraat, age 70, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Monday, December 25th, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born in Washington, D.C., on May 19, 1953, a daughter of John and Nancy (Chadbourne) Bartel who reside in Columbia, MO.
Catherine spent all her life teaching. Her career began in Tipton, then to St. George and on to the Hermann public schools were she taught Special Education.
She was united in marriage to the late Bernard Elsenraat on April 19, 1980 at St. George.
Catherine is survived by her parents, one son, Jeff and wife Christina Elsenraat, of Republic, MO, a daughter, Jennifer and husband Tony Herzog, of Bloomsdale, MO; grandchildren Paige, Will & Ryan Elsenraat, of Republic, MO, Olivia, Avery, & Johnathan Herzog, of Bloomsdale, MO; her mother-in-law, Mary Alice Elsenraat, of Rhineland, MO; a brother Rick and wife Sarah Bartel, of Ashland, MO; brothers in-law, Anthony Elsenraat, of Rhineland, Leonard and wife Jeanne Elsenraat, of Hermann, Daryl and wife Kim Elsenraat, of St. Paul, MO; sisters-in- law, Alicia and husband Howard Winkelmann, of Hermann, Christina and husband Matt Massman, of Jefferson City; nieces & nephews, Dustin Winkelmann, Emily Allemann, Jody Bock, Tiffany Crutcher, Jake, Nick & Sydney Elsenraat, Brooke & William Massman; great nieces & nephews, Cecilia, Ellie, Wren, Chase & Chloe. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard, father-in-law Sib Elsenraat, Grandparents Gilbert & Flora Bartel, Rodney & Viola Chadbourne.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 28th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.
A funeral mass will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Risen Savior in Rhineland, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhineland. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Bearcat Boosters, Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer, Hermann Hospital Auxiliary, or the cemetery.
