Carroll Dean (Quick) Backes, 90, of New Haven, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at New Haven Care Center.
Carroll was born on May 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Greeley & Pauline (Rainey) Quick.
She married Frederick Leo “Bud” Backes on November 28, 1951. They were members of the Assumption Church of New Haven, MO. Bud preceded her in death on January 31, 2014
Carroll and Bud raised their family on a farm in New Haven, MO. She was a hardworking, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her biggest passion in life was baking and cooking for others. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Carroll had many jobs, but her favorite job was cooking for the New Haven School District.
Carroll is survived by four daughters, Jackie Weidle & husband Larry, of New Haven, Missouri; Sharon Althen & husband James, of New Haven, Missouri; Kim Hoemann, of Berger, Missouri; and Kelly Toelke & husband Robert, of New Haven, Missouri; a son, Scott Backes & wife Jackie, of Fulshear, Texas; a son-in-law Steve Tanner, of New Haven, Missouri; two sisters, Connie Kluesner & husband Charles, of Washington, Missouri; and Judy Wisdom, of Washington, Missouri; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn Quick of New Haven, Missouri, Dorthy Quick of Hermann, Missouri, and Velma Banken of New Haven, Missouri, by 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, a daughter, Paula Backes-Tanner, a son-in-law, James Hoemann, a grandson, Michael Hoemann, two brothers, Bill & LeRoy Quick, a sister Betty Pehle, three brother-in-laws Marivn Pehle, Leonard Banken, and Ronnie Wisdom
A graveside service will be held Monday, August 5th at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Cemetery, New Haven. Memorial donations may be given to Assumption Cemetery.
