Carolyn A. Metzler

Carolyn A. Metzler, 79, of Hermann, MO, passed away December 22, 2023 at StoneBridge Hermann.

Carolyn was born in Rhineland, Missouri on June 12, 1944, the daughter of the late Orval & Helen (Scholten) Metzler.

Carolyn was a hairdresser and owned her own shop called the Beauty Shop.  When she moved to Hermann she worked at Hermann Hospital.  She was a member of St. George Church, Hermann, where she was also a member of the Ladies Sodality.  

Carolyn enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, Christmas decorating, playing cards and visiting and spending time with her family. Although she didn't have children of her own, she considered her nieces and nephews and their children as her own.  She really enjoyed spoiling and baby sitting them all.

Carolyn is survived by a sister, Melba Bokermann, of Kirkwood, Missouri; a brother, Valerian "Mannie" Metzler & wife Vera, of Fenton, Missouri; a sister, Mildred "Fae" Winkelmann, of Hermann, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Lavita Metzler, of St. Charles, Missouri; 26 nieces and nephews and numerous great niece & nephews and great-great nieces & nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gerald "Ferd"  Metzler, Wendell "Metz" Metzler and his wife Jackie and two brothers-in-law, Albert Bokermann and Walter Winkelmann.

Visitation will be held Wednesday December 27th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating. 

Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rhineland. Memorials may be given to St. George School, or Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer.
