Bonnie Pearl Shockley (nee Beabout), 88, of New Haven passed away on Friday, June 3rd, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family at the farm she loved and called home for over five decades.
She was born on June 6, 1933, in Wheatcroft, Kentucky, the daughter of Vernon Beabout and Audy Pearline Beabout-Jones (nee Meazles) and spent her childhood in Kentucky.
She and Charles Parvin Shockley were united in marriage in Wheatcroft, Kentucky on August 13, 1952. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always had time to nurture her family’s imagination and encourage creativity.
She was a talented painter and taught painting (Bob Ross style), embroidery, and quilting. She was always available to mend clothing, make alterations, and create lovely and cherished handmade quilts for all of her beloved family. She had an enthusiasm for new experiences with both family and friends, never met a stranger, liked bowling, dancing, playing cards and dominoes, fishing, gardening, and the great outdoors. She was a homemaker most of her life, but enjoyed working at Cedar Crest Manor after her children were older and starting families of their own. An astoundingly strong and independent woman, she was outspoken and strong willed to the end of her life, sure to let everyone around her know her wishes and hopes for the future.
Bonnie is survived by five children Bonnita (Nita) Pace and husband Michael, St. Louis, Rhonda Watermann and husband Gary, Washington, Nancy Amburgey and husband Lee, Marthasville, Charles (Chuck) Shockley and wife Susan, and Toni Mickle, all of New Haven; ten grandchildren, Torbin Pace, Lindsey Pace-Snook and husband Cole (C.J.)Snook ,Justin Watermann, Susan Watermann and partner David Huxel, Matt Watermann and wife Lilach, Jessica Amburgey, and fiancé Zack Wilpon, Samantha Amburgey, Lynelle Faltemier and husband Scott, Charles James (C.J.)Shockley and wife Hannah, and Conner Shockley and wife Hannah; eight great grandchildren, Noah and Gabe Watermann, Kal Snook, William and Charlie Faltemier, Penny and Beniziah Shockley, and Shahar Watermann; one step-grandson Jacob Ferketich one step great-grandson Micheal Huxel; her dear dog and golf cart passenger, Amelia; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charles P. Shockley; and four siblings Thomas and Robert Beabout, Joretta Mertz, and Carolyn Sue O’Leary; two sons-in-law Kevin Wheeler and Bryan Mickle.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, from 4 pm - 8pm and a funeral service on Tuesday, June 14, 10:00 am all at Faith Baptist Church in Washington. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Washington.
