Billy Joe Chitwood, 88, of New Haven, MO, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at New Haven Care Center.
Billy was born in Winona, Missouri on July 17, 1936, the son of the late Melba (Kelley) Chitwood.
Billy proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1958 with the 801st Army Aviation Engineers. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Haven.
He worked at McDonnell Douglas then Boeing for over 40 years.
He was the husband of Charlotte (Bennett) Chitwood. They were united in marriage on November 1, 1958 in Salem, Missouri.
Billy is survived by his wife, Charlott Chitwood, of New Haven; two sons, Steven Chitwood, of Ellisville, Missouri; and Wade Chitwood, of Seattle, Washington, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, three brothers, Ed, Stan and Liary and two sisters, Linda and Gertie.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where memorial services will follow at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's U.C.C., Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
