BARBARA EARLENE (MALLETT) LIGONS
Earlene passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 15th, 2026. She was born July 17th, 1940 in Mallett Town, Arkansas, a small community named after the Mallett family who founded it. She was born to parents, Elmer Harrison Mallett and Mildred (Bizzell) Mallett.
She was the widow of Jackie B. Ligons. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage.
Earlene attended and graduated from Risco High School where she excelled in the sports of volleyball and softball. After graduation, she was employed approximately 12 years as a supervisor of medical records transcribers for a medical clinic in St. Louis, MO. She also attended night classes at Hickey’s Business School in Clayton, MO.
Earlene and her family moved to Hermann in the early 70’s where she owned and operated See Tal Inn Restaurant for several years. After selling the business, she then worked for 12 years as food service director for Gasconade County R-1 School District when the district had 5 schools in the area. She went on to work for and retire from the state of Missouri as office manager for the Dept. of Labor, Crime Victims’ Unit, a position she loved, as she was able to help many victims of crime. She was a volunteer for the Showboat Theater in Hermann for several years.
Earlene loved helping others. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hermann, where she held many positions over the years and was known for making items (such as sock monkeys) for the children and quilts for most new babies and newlyweds in the church. Over the years, she presented each of her siblings and nieces and nephews with a quilt she made. Many of her quilts were also donated for benefits in the area. She loved to cook and helped with providing meals to those in need. She didn’t miss very many St. Louis Cardinals or Mizzou games on TV.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie, and her parents and twin siblings, Lillian and Leland.
She is survived by her two sons, Kirby (Terrie) of Phoenix, AZ and Christopher Todd, of Hermann, MO. Other survivors include sisters, Elsie Rasco (Don), Twila Miller (Robert) and brother, Terry (Glenda) Mallett of Malden, MO, and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
