Valerius G. Schultz, 89, of Hermann, MO, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, at New Haven Care Center, New Haven, Missouri.
Valerius was born in Owensville, Missouri on September 24, 1927, a son of the late George Adolph & Mathilda Louisa (Rohlfing) Schultz.
He was united in marriage to Harolyn Jean Zick on August 9, 1954. Harolyn preceded him in death on December 16, 2009.
Valerius was a minister in the United Church of Christ. After he & Harolyn were married they moved to Brazil for missionary work for twelve years. When they returned from Brazil they moved to Fairbolt, Minnesota, where he served as a minister there for 14 years. He then went on to Owensville and served at St. Peter's United Church of Christ. He then retired ministering at St. James Evangelical Church at Stony Hill, where he was also a member. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, wood working and doing a lot of traveling.
Valerius is survived by a son, Philip Schultz & wife Jeanie, of Hermann, Missouri; two sisters, Helen Krampe & husband Dale, of Washington, Missouri; and Margaret Schultz, of Washington, Missouri; and by three grandchildren, Philip C. Schultz & wife Jenni, of New Haven; and Scott & Shanda Schultz, of Hermann. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son John Schultz, and a brother Max Schultz.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Evangelical Church, Stony Hill, Missouri, with Rev. Tom Lloyd officiating.
Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery, Berger, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Bethany Cemetery or St. James Evangelical Church.
