Orville C. Clifton, 89, of Gasconade, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri.
Orville was born in Gasconade, Missouri on May 12, 1929, a son of the late Orville C. & Florence (Cooper) Clifton.
He was the husband of Geraldine (Koch) Clifton. They were united in marriage on June 2, 1956, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. Geraldine survives at their home.
Orville is also survived by a son, Jeff Clifton, of Gasconade, Missouri; a daughter, Gretchen Clifton, of St. Charles, Missouri; and by two grandchildren, Josh & Brittany Clifton. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Betty Gove.
Orville worked for the Army Corp of Engineers starting as a deck hand on the Sergeant Floyd. From 1951-1953 he served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart. He returned to the Corp of Engineers as a machinist and later got his engineers license. He retired in 1986 after 36 years of Federal service. In his free time he enjoyed farming, hunting, collecting guns, and going to gun shows.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 27th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Darrel Deeker officiating.
Burial will be private. Memorials may be given to Gasconade Cemetery. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
